The guidelines

Guest post content

  • The guest post must be relevant to the content on budgetontrack.com. The main categories of posts and pages that we promote on this site include budgeting, saving, debt management, investing, entrepreneurship, retirement and wealth building.
  • Your guest post should offer something of value to the readers. Whether it’s a new perspective, actionable advice, or a fresh take on a topic, make sure your post provides something that the readers will find helpful or interesting.
  • We accept posts written in common word processing software such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and similar software.
  • Avoid submitting content that has already been published elsewhere, including in your own blog or other form of media. The content should be original and unique. Using excerpts from other content is permitted, but must be kept to a minimum and referenced appropriately.
  • Avoid submitting content generated solely from an AI source. Using AI to help draft an outline for an article is acceptable. However, it is common for AI-generated content to be inaccurate or misleading. Such content will need to be carefully reviewed and amended where necessary. In addition, we encourage primarily original content to avoid AI detectors used by search engines from ranking your article lower in search results.

Writing style

  • While it may seem obvious, it’s important to write well when submitting a guest post. Make sure your post is well-organized, easy to read and understand, and free of spelling and grammar errors.
  • Make use of headings where appropriate to help organise the post in logical sections.
  • Aim for a word length between 1500 and 3000 words.
  • We aim to cater to a wide audience from children to mature adults. You can research the types of posts currently on budgetontrack.com to get an idea of the post lengths and the general writing style.

Links

  • External links within the post must be relevant to the content of the post and valuable to readers. All links will be checked and verified before publishing.
  • Any links leading to irrelevant or inappropriate content will be removed. If excessive links need to be removed, we reserve the right to avoid publishing the post.

Media

  • Media, including photos and diagrams, often add meaning and value to the content. You are welcome to include these in your post.
  • If the media is not original, we request they be referenced appropriately.
  • Media that is not relevant, or contains inappropriate content, will be removed. If excessive media content in the post needs to be removed, we reserve the right to avoid publishing the post.

About you

  • We require a valid website (or a link to your profile/bio) in the form below when you submit your request to write a post for us. We will link to your website or profile at the beginning of the post.
  • You are welcome to include a short bio of yourself at the end of the post. Make sure your bio accurately reflects your expertise and experience.

What happens after you submit your guest post?

  • When a guest post has been submitted, the budgetontrack.com editorial staff will review the guest post content and ensure it meets these guidelines.
  • If needed, there may be additional communication via email to ensure the post meets our and your expectations, including the requirements in these guidelines. This may be due to minor changes in the post or content that does not meet the guidelines.
  • If the post meets these guidelines, we will format it to match the budgetontrack.com content style and publish it.
  • To improve ranking in search engine results, we may alter the post title while keeping it relevant to the content of the post. We may also alter or add other information to improve the SEO score of the article. Think of this as more visitors reading your article!
  • Once the post is live, we will email you, including a link to the post, to confirm that it has been successfully submitted and published.
  • If the post contains excessive errors or inappropriate/irrelevant content, we will not publish it. We reserve the right to choose whether to email you in this instance.
