The people

This website is the brainchild of an ordinary person (myself) who has a keen interest in finance and in helping people to become more financially literate.

“So what?”, you might be asking. Why listen to someone like me?

Whilst I am not a financial advisor, I have read many books and absorbed educational content from various financial experts from different walks of life. I have put into practice what I believe are tried and tested techniques for building wealth.

I have not only immersed myself in the philosophy outlined in the Barefoot Investor’s money guide but have also successfully navigated the path of Dave Ramsey’s Seven Baby Steps. Furthermore, my financial experience extends to encompass The Money Guy’s 9 financial order of operations.

Achieving these goals while bringing up three children (now in their late teens and older) and paying off a mortgage well before “retirement age” was not from chance. It was from following these financial experts’ strategies in various forms.

Each of their strategies differs slightly but they have common themes. As most of them will state, we all have different financial situations, goals, and risk tolerances. This makes it impossible to provide a “one size fits all” strategy for managing finances and building wealth. However, I can confidently impart a comprehensive approach to visitors of this website that ensures a solid financial foundation.

The content doesn’t stop there. I am proud to collaborate with experienced freelance writers who specialize in financial education. Their diverse perspectives and insights enrich the platform, providing a well-rounded and informative experience for the site’s audience.

Additionally, I am honored to feature guest posts contributed by prominent bloggers, entrepreneurs, and business professionals with expertise in financial education and wealth building.

Why create this website?

Sadly, many schools don’t offer sufficient, if any, valuable lessons about money matters. Additionally, solid financial lessons are rarely taught within the home environment.

But here’s the thing: learning about effective money management is important, and the earlier, the better! When you pick up good money habits early on, it’s like setting up a winning game plan for the rest of your life.

So, why did I create this website? Well, I believe the internet is like a treasure chest of (mostly) helpful information, and I wanted to share my financial experiences and knowledge with as many people as possible. Anyone with an internet connection can hop on board.

Specifically, the educational material takes shape as a written guide, laying out a straightforward series of steps. These steps are designed to make the journey toward financial literacy and long-term wealth improvement easily accessible and understandable.

Finally, I wouldn’t be completely upfront if I didn’t share a personal motivation behind crafting the content on this site. It relates to the statement above about the lack of good financial education from an early age. Simply put, I want to educate my children on good financial management and provide a resource for them to come back to no matter where their lives lead them!

How we get paid

As mentioned above, the reason for creating budgetontrack.com is to help people become financially literate and financially comfortable. Visitors to this site can find valuable information simply by reading the content, at absolutely no cost.

Having said that, the website does cost money to host and maintain. Some pages and articles contain affiliate links that are included for anyone wanting to learn more about a particular topic. The links allow visitors to browse recommended resources (on third-party websites) and purchase a resource if they desire. For more information about how affiliate links work, refer to our affiliate links disclosure.

The site also contains ads that are generally relevant to the topics. If you don’t like ads you can skip over them to continue reading the valuable content on this site.

Lastly, if you don’t intend to make a purchase from one of our affiliates or click through any ads, that’s perfectly fine. If the content has helped you with your finances in a positive way, you may consider a small donation (via the “Donate with PayPal” button on the sidebar) to return the favour. The choice is entirely yours!

Wishing you a financially successful life!
